Crazy Tenacity

If at First You Don't Succeed...The October 2006 issue of Forbes Small Business magazine published an excellent excerpt from Brent Bowers recent book “If at First You Don’t Suceed…The Eight Patterns of Highly Effective Entrepreneurs.”

Far from the typical cookie-cutter business book, the author has eschewed pop-psychology in favor of detailed profiles of specific business owners who let nothing in their lives get in the way of their success. Stick-to-it-iveness, tenacity, thick skins, patience, persistance, perseverance, and passion are adjectives that begin to describe the “bulldog mentality” of the entrepreneurs highlighted.

A huge fan of the entrepreneurial mindset, I love to read and learn about what drives the “crazy tenacity” that defines the successful small business owner. Unfortunately, FSB hasn’t posted the excerpt online, but you can order Brent Bowers book online now. I just my ordered my copy from Amazon and can’t wait to dive in.

Calvin Coolidge said the following in 1932:

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence
* Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent
* Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb
* Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.

Persistence and Determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "Press On" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

I like this sentiment so much I have it on my desk at work, and on the fridge at home!
